Name Purple w/Cool Seed Pods, Garlic? and Other Misc.

1. Purple Basil (type?) 2-3 feet tall, pale purplish pink flowers, a great grower and freely self-seeds, just shy of being invasive :). Overall I like it for colored foliage and great mid-height all season long.

2. Which type of Forget Me Not? I'd like to plant more but want to pick the same type.

3. Nicotiana? Poor flower showing last year, tiny white ones at the top of the main stems :(. Maybe not a good type.

4. Garlic smelling bulbs/leaves from a friend (not the stray vinca in the pic) - worried that it might be invasive? Grew in clumps behaved in her yard but nervous because I've heard so many complaints about garlics taking over.

5. SUPER cool purple flower from a wildflower mix, grew clumps of long-lived flowers all season so far, and has the neatest seed pods ever (see photo). Would love to plant more of this next year, will try to save the seed, but otherwise would like to buy some more. It did flop :(, but perhaps in a sunnier spot...

Perilla frutescens
not enough detail on the forget-me-not
Pokeweed
Allium tricoccum , perhaps
Lunaria annua

Well if that's pokeweed, I guess I'll be taking it out! It's in a few places.

Thanks for the name on Lunaria, I can't wait to plant more!!

Don't know where you live but the Lunaria self seeds very nicely for me. Just scatter the seedpods around where you want them. Even without doing that I get 5 or 6 nice plants scattered around every spring. There's a variegated white one, too. Unfortunately, it didn't self seed.

I think I see Nicotiana at the base of your pokeweed clump, it will have a fuzzy texture, different from the pokeweed. Don't try to dig around it, move the Nicotiana out of the way before you dig that pokeweed out. Nicotiana doesn't like being moved so prepare for it to pout.

I'm commiserating with you, I have a big clump of pokeweed to dig out too.
