Hi, This plant is in the middle of my pond area. Any thoughts on what it is?

Knowing the location could help. You can add another pic as well, one per reply.

RE: Plant Name?

I am in Boise Idaho. What perspective would be the most helpful for a follow-up picture?

RE: Plant Name?

That depends on who looks at this I guess, but looking straight down might help, and/or a pic with something for scale. Not sure of the size of this guy. Some might know from this pic, but I can't tell if the leaves are opposite or alternate. That's a clue for the real botanists.

Confirm you just took this pic recently? Do you have any pics of this area from last year that might include this plants' bloom? Whatever else you know about it could help. Is there any scent if you tear a leaf?

RE: Plant Name?

The plant is about 14 inches tall. Unfortunately, I do not have any data from last year as we just moved into this house with many, many plantings.
We are excited to care for this "new to us" yard, but we are novices and trying to catalog types so we may research individually.
Thanks for your help.
