Ground cover? Maybe? I.D. Needed

I was down south a bit in Conyers, GA last week and I stumbled upon this purple ground cover stuff. I think it's quite pretty, but I don't know what it's called.

Any ideas?

It's Perilla frutescens, an annual that self sows freely. Bruise a leaf and smell the scent.

It is edible too.

And it's not native to the US.
