Hmm... ok. I guess I'll spare it from being chopped out of there... if it don't bloom this year then it's gone though. It's just a big mess right now. I hope it's a clematis though! :-)

Yes, it's a Clematis. Does it receive enough sun? You might try pruning part of it.

I never really paid attention to how much sun it gets but I would assume that it gets 6+ hours a day... but that's just an estimate. It got pruned down to the ground two years ago and has been growing since... if my landlord's mother planted it she would know what it required and that's why she planted it there... there used to be an 8' satelite dish sitting back there on a big 5'X5' concrete pad and that's what it's growing over.. as well as some other "stuff" that's growing out there. How much of a pruning should I give it? I'm a complete noob when it comes to clematis so I have no idea how to care for them.

Yes, it is a Clematis, not ivy.

TY... I appreciate the ID.. I hope it's a clematis as I've been thinking about buying one, free is better though! ;-))

I'll definately be posting photos if/when she blooms for ID!

It may be a sweet autumn clematis, C. terniflora. If it is, it will get small white (variably) fragrant flowers in August or so. C. terniflora should be pruned almost to the ground every late winter/early spring. BTW, though, C. terniflora is showing invasive tendencies in our area and is causing ecological concern among some ecologists.
