I cut some trees down last year when I moved into my house. One of them is looking to regrow, it seems. It's too small to get a decent picture, but I did pluck a rather large leaf from it.

It's not a poplar or black gum--the two trees on either side of it--at least I think it isn't.

I thought maybe it could be a sweet gum, but it looks WAY too large for that or the other two trees mentioned above. It's about 7'' across at the widest points.

Any clues?
