California Native, Perhaps

I saw this yesterday at the San Diego Botanic Garden, in the CA native section, and I'm also seeing it in my neighborhood of Coastal Sage Scrub. So either a weed that gets around, or a CA native. The flower opens yellow and ages to orange. The individial flower is less than 1/3 of an inch, and the leave are about the same size. Thanks for any ideas you might have. Sorry for the photo quality, but the flowers are very small. The plants are perhaps 12" tall and wide and form a half-dome of stems reaching out in all directions in my neighborhood with no supplemental irrigation. At the SDBG, the plants were larger and more open and sprawled out 2-3 feet and there looked to be some possible supplemental water--not much obviously.

The same plant was also over in in an area of newly planted South African Aloes. It looked fabulous with this one--same colors, the Aloe colored up due to our recent ferocious heat wave.

Thank you.
