This has popped up in the vegetable garden. Any ideas? I do not know what was planted here last year unfortunately. thank you.

looks like Dianthus barbatus.

Not D barbatus imo. The leaves appear to be slightly felted.

Maybe calendula, which always reseeds itself in my garden.

the wait is over. It finally flowered! (there is another flower in the background so just ignore that..its the one in the foreground that you should look at) I hope this isn't a weed because I have it in several other places too. let me know what you think. thank you!

Compare with Berteroa incana. Not one I know personally.
