Centranthus ruber seedling?

Hi everyone!

I received seeds for these from a generous trader. I really want this plant, but the seedlings don't look quite like the pictures on the web. Can anyone confirm the ID of this guy? Thank you!

Looks different, IMO. leaves should be more pointed, and it should have a stalk/ stem with leaves.

That one looks like growing in a rosette.

Perhaps you could start with one adult plant. They reseed but need open soil, in my garden because of the mulch there are no volunteers. In another situation they were popping up everywhere in open soil or cracks in the pavement.

RE: Centranthus ruber seedling?

No, it's definitely not Centranthus ruber.

Here is a link that might be useful: Last picture on this page.

It may be Silene armeria.

Well, darn. Thank you everyone. Yes, getting an adult may be the way to start. They're blooming all over town right now. Thank you for the link to the photos flora_uk. And thank you carol23 for the lead. Looking at pictures of of Silene armeria, it's easy to see how the two could get confused.

Now the Dutchman's Pipe seeds that grew into Impatiens balsamina plants, I'm still puzzling about that one :)
