It looks like bamboo- is that at live bamboo stalk next to it?

yea, bamboo, but just my marker so DH would not pull it :-)

sorry, it looked like bamboo leaves near the bottom, so wasn't sure if that was an old cane that had died or a stake. I hope someone can i.d the plant for you!

Hi Linaria - looks like a Peach or Nectarine to me. We get them too - round where we sit out in the summer spitting into the flowerbeds. How vulgar we are ;-)

thanks, I hadn't even considered peach, probably wishfull thinking,
but as my alottment is surrounded by peach trees, kind of, it's very likely.
I will keep it and maybe try some grafting ,

So, now I know for sure, a peach. The young seedling started flowering, so it crossed my plans to transplant it this spring.

now I'm waiting curiously for fruit, if they are halfway/somewhat tasty, I transplant it in fall.

that pic was snapped with a phone, blurry, but I like the flower color, the seedling is now almost 6feet tall and adds another foot this season, I reckon,

another ps: I tried occulating recklessly last summer, which failed, but if the fruits are boring, I 'll do some grafting later

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but I have a question. When bamboo is just breaking the ground and tender white, can those be eaten ?

Lucky you. Don't you get peach leaf curl? The only time I ever tried growing a nectarine it was destroyed by Plc.
