Cockscomb celosia?

OK so I bought cockscomb celosia seeds from Burpee, I sowed the seeds. This is the first one to get some puffs. however.. it just looks like regular boring celosia to me...

do cockscomb celosia start like this? I was really really looking forward to those beautiful bizarre flowers... I've never seen them in person...

Don't panic! ;-) the cristata type of cockscomb often start out as little nubbins like that. I agree with Thedecoguy that it strikes one immediately as an amaranth, but I've seen lots of cockscomb look like this before it really gets ripping, and certain varieties of it also have red foliage. Wait and give it a chance.
