Thought it was asclepias/milkweed?

I thought these were Asclepias syriaca (common milkweed) but the bees and butterflies are already all over the flowers and the flowers do not look like asclepias...they are small, creamy heads w/a little yellow stamen. I thought they would open more fully but maybe they already are?

It is the plant that foragers have to be careful of when harvesting spring shoots of milkweed to eat since this plant looks similar when first sprouting. It is dogbane, Apocynum cannabinum. It is also called "indian hemp." I had the pleasure to take a cordage workshop recently and learned how to make a very fine rope from this plant.
