Weed? Blooming June 2014

Hi all,

Think it's a weed but it is near the property line with a neighbor who likes it. Can anyone tell me what it is? Take it out? In my hot, wet climate weeds and invasive plants are a huge problem.

I am already working on the additional weeds that you may see growing in with white flowered one. Thanks!!

Diodia virginiana (Smooth Buttonweed)

I have this in the front lawn (I first noticed it next to the road, where it's not always safe to work); I have also seen some in the pasture. It roots as it goes, and small pieces will create new plants. Spreads by seed as well.

Do what you can to control it before it begins growing amidst something you care about.

It's a native, if that's a factor in what you keep. I let it alone in mowed areas, it comes and goes, depending on the season.

Hi all, thanks! I have a serious problem with nutsedge so I'd rather take out the smooth buttonweed or at least try to take it out. Thanks for the speedy & informative replies.
