Some kind of turnip?

One of my neighbors gave me this to try but I don't know what it is. She said to just eat the bulb raw in a salad and it has a distinct flavor. The leaves are supposed to taste like broccoli. Should I cook it? Any of you use this before? Thanks in advance.

I think it's kohlrabi; don't know about how to eat it, but look it up and see what you think.

Kohlrabi to be sure. Just google "kohlrabi recipe." Yummy raw.

My dad grew it in the veg garden when I was a kid. Our family's favorite way to eat it:

-Slice thinly top to bottom

-Sprinkle with kosher salt

-Insert in mouth.

Delicious fresh, but don't ever buy it from the grocery store (it will taste like cardboard.)

Forgot to say: you'll want to peel before eating.
