Who Is This?

My neighbor found this plant growing in her flower bed last year. This year it is very tall - 5 and a half feet tall - and it is blooming with yellow flowers right now. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks,
Linda

Perhaps a Melilotus.

RE: Who Is This?

I just received an email from another Gardenweb Member and she said that it is probably Melilotus officinalis. I checked pictures of it and I think that is exactly what it is. So carol23, you are correct. Thank you for your help!

Is the plant fragrant? Sweet Clover has a strong, sweet, hay-like fragrance to the foliage, very pleasant, the kind of scent that would be nice in clean laundry, outdoorsy, fresh, sunshine type fragrance, and quite similar to sweet woodruff. If it's fragrant, I'd say that's your plant.
