| Looks like an American Elm to me. |

| So far not looking like beech, but see if you can get a picture close to the stem. It may be too early in the year. Eventually a beech will have leaf buds that look like small cigars:

| I think it does look like American beech... not elm, elm has one side that lips down further on the petiole than the other. |

| Beech has each vein ending in a single tooth. Those leaves have serrate margins. |
