Vine weed in shade

I posted this in the Weeds section, I got a couple guesses, but it's not the suggested plants, though the False Solomon Seal was close, it may be related.

I figured I'd try here too. It may be an old fashioned plant that's not grown very often any more. The house was built and planted in 1910 and some of the original plants are still around. It was also re-modeled and re-planted in the 1940's. I'm in Norther California, bay area if that helps.

This vine weed shows up every late winter and chokes the bushes. It seems to prefer shady areas. I'm not sure if it's an annual or perennial. It shows up in the same places, but I don't know if it is coming back from the roots or if it just re-seeds.
By late summer it's dry and dead. It has a very distinctive leaf that has parallels veins with no visible main center vein. flowers are tiny, white and star shaped, no scent noticeable. They become these reddish berries that age to black and wrinkled.
Here you see it growing over a camellia. The first 3 pics are now in June, it's starting to go dormant. The last pic is from April.

No one has been able to ID it, and all my search attempts have been futile so far. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
