I can't find out what this plant is.
slightly woody, shrubby plant.
flowering now (end of June)
large single very pale pink flowers
long-stamened centre similar to Hypericum (Rose of Sharon)
but dark maroon.

Any ideas?

Acca (Feijoa)sellowiana. The petals are edible and sweet, but watch out
for ants who love them.

Saltcedar you are BRILLIANT and so quick.
Thank you so much. I was challenged to find out the name and you've enabled me to do just that. I'm emailing my companions from our walk this morning, right now - I hope they will be suitably impressed.

You may enjoy the fruit. I don't eat mine because I don't like the 'scented' taste but I have a friend who loves them. A lot of people here make jam from them.
