name this weed please

I found this near a creek and believe its some kind of weed.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't planted intentionally.
I thought maybe it was marshmallow but i think the leaves are all wrong for that.

Certainly a Malvaceae but since we can't see any leaves it's hard to get more precise. Do you have any other pictures?

I have one other pic than this one but its much worse.
I should be down around that creek again in a week or so and I will try to take a good picture then.

A guess at Malva moschata.

I Google'd an image of that plant and it looks like a dead ringer for the plant I posted.
I would say your guess is very good,
It must have escaped cultivation from whereabouts I live because this is not a normal plant seen here.
