| I inherited a start of this plant from my neighbor. It was tightly in a large 'wooden barrel' type pot and huge. It stands about 3 feet tall and wide. The leaves are 8-10 inches wide and long. It has woody branches with the largest being about 2 1/2 inches across. We would both like to know what it is. Any ideas? |

| If it's still in a container, it would sure appreciate being planted in the ground. It's usually thought of as a shade loving plant where it seems to thrive....growing full and lush. If in a suitable site, Fatsia can grow to five X five with ease. |

| ty both! I'm a bit confused...I agree with the plant ID. But in researching on the net the size when planted in the ground (on sites that should be reputable) varies from 10x10 down to 4x5. Now your estimate of 5x5 would be perfect for my garden. But how is one to know? Also I read it grows by suckers. Can it be invasive? |

It's not invasive, in your area it should slowly get closer to 10x10, infrequently suckers generally to replace any stems that die. |
