Calycanthus floridus. Pretty shade tolerant, although the more sun it gets the more compact it will be.

Agree with Calycanthus. Nice plant. It gets to be a good size shrub, though, so give it some space. My neighbor has one that's probably 7 feet high and 6 feet across, and it's in a pretty shady area.

I have a spot big enough that gets morning sun & afternoon shade will that be good? Or I probably can MAKE a spot where it has morning sun & afternoon shade. What'y'all think would be better & thanks! for being so quick & awesome:)

Morning sun, afternoon shade is fine.
It is part sun. It is a native to the East coast of the USA.
It naturally grows under trees, and receives sun through them.
When you plant it, mulch it. It's getting hot here and I would water it every day for a week so it roots in alright.
FIne shrub you have there.
Oh, by the way, it suckers really bad, so if it does take for you, keep and eye out for babies.

In South Carolina its known as Sweet Shrub, or Bubby Bush.

Thank you so much everyone - I know where I am going to put this baby - and actually - out of the CLUMP - there is 3 that I will be planting. So excited - because I have heard that name Bubby Bush and I know it is an old-timey pass-along plant :)

As to suckering, it's doesn't sucker "really bad" in my opinion, but it does sucker occasionally.
