What is this tree ?

I've looked in the reference books but the bark never matches the leaves that they show.

Looks very much like the shingle oak, the leaves and the trunk but the shape is a little different. Don't know about the flowers or acorn because I just discovered it this summer. I will have to monitor it. Thank you very much.

Leaves look sort of like magnolia virginiana. Has it ever bloomed or sported berries?
