My naked lady bulbs look like this. All pictures I've ever seen of crinum have star shaped blooms and the tips lean backwards. You can compare pictures of both on Dave's Garden.

ollierose, usually the term "naked lady" is reserved for bulbs that send up a bloom stalk when the foliage is dormant. Another common name for that type of bulb is "surprise lily", although that is often used for Lycoris. The common names definitely center around the concept that foliage is not present.

Notice in the picture above, the foliage is present.

My grandmother called them magic lillies. :) The only time you knew a flower was even there was when they sent the flower stalk up. Hardly any foilage.

i looked it up online & have had
a guy from a garden center
tell me the same thing.
ebay has several of them,
i ordered a red one yesterday.
