Help! Mystery plant??

A friend of mine gave me this plant, was supposed to be a "shasta daisy". I dont think it is.

It's leaves are light green and some purple. What is it? Is it a weed Will it hurt the garden? Thanks!

Looks like some kind of wild lettuce? I mean colour's all wrong but growth pattern is similar?

On another forum someone suggested Montauk Daisy. Can anyone here confirm that?

not a great pic.. as night time ones.. seldom are ..

and straight down doesnt help either..

if you want to try again.. throw in a scale also ... anything we might recognize

i have never seen a silver daisy leaf ... and therein lies the problem ...
