Help with fruit/seed ID

This fruit/seed was deposited in the after-hours book drop of the library I work at. I thought at first it was from a black walnut, but after slicing it open realized that it wasn't. My library is near the foothills west of Denver; I'm pretty sure this isn't a native plant! Any ideas? Here are a couple of photos:

Not osage orange. They have small light-colored seeds, a solid fruit, and a very brainlike exterior. Seen plenty chopped up for herbal extracts. Sorry I can't tell you what it is, only what it isn't.
