This is a volunteer from my neighbors garden and something she called spawn of satan. It's not ajuga as it has been suggested prior. The foliage is small and tight to the ground. Very suppressing to other plants. The purple flowers turn black and immediately go to seed, the entire plant dies ands is reborn in the spring from all the seeds. It even puts a good fight up against archangel lamium.
