Is this a type of Fern?

Hi, I'm new here. I'm on Long Island.

Recently, under my deck, I found a few small wild ferns growing. In addition to them, I found many of these (see photo). I have been trying for weeks to find out what it is.

It grows under my deck, I didn't plant it, and there are many of them, with some wild Ferns growing, as well. Would love to know what it is.

Very shady under my deck, minimal sun in the early part of the day.

Help? Thanks!

Onoclea sensibilis, aka Sensitive Fern.

Here is a link that might be useful: Sensitive fern

carol23,
thank you for this information! I had a feeling it was a type of Fern.

By any chance, can I replant them elsewhere in my yard? I have a lot of shade in my yard. Wondering if replanting them at this time of the year is a good idea or if I should wait. (normally wouldn't want to replant them but within a year we're getting rid of the deck and lowering it. Thanks again for the i.d. I appreciate it.

Yes they are easily transplanted and very resilient.

esh ga, Thank you for responding. Is this a good time of the year to replant on Long Island??

PS..is there a way for me to set something so I know when someone responds? I can't find anything in settings, so I bookmarked the page.

You can pretty much transplant anytime, just put in shade and keep it moist at first. Some people complain @ sensitive fern taking over in the garden - keep an eye on it.

When you first post, there's a button you can click to have follow-ups emailed to you. It's only there when you start a topic, and only the topic-starter has that option. However, lately, it hasn't been working for me - I click the button but have not been getting the emails.

carrieb, that's good to know, that they can be transplanted any time. Thanks for that info.

As for that button: I didn't see a button when I started either of my posts...so maybe it's still not working. (I'm new here, btw).
