Hey guys, want to plant this beautiful plant but not sure what it is... any ideas?

Flowers look like Cercis, red bud?

RE: purple plant

Or Malus?

RE: purple plant

i would say an eastern redbud is more ephemeral with its flowers... not the IN YOUR FACE display such as this ...

i would tend toward crabapple .. at this distance ..

ps: the suckers might tell the whole story ... lol .. since plain old green redbuds are seed grown ..

RE: purple plant

Malus/crabapple, not Cersis/redbud. Flowers are the wrong color and too full for redbud, plus the tree shape is right for crabapple, but not for redbud.

RE: purple plant

If its a crabapple, I personally wouldn't recommend growing one.

We have one at our house and the flowers are absolutely gorgeous for a few weeks, but the suckers are constant maintenance.
