What is this weed?

I cut down my Mock orange (philadelphus) as a last ditch, however this plant popped out.

I'm pretty sure it's not a mock orange. It is around 12-18" tall.

RE: What is this weed?

Could be mock orange - it has the right leaf arrangement.

RE: What is this weed?

Thanks Esh. However the original plant didn't have serrations as pronounced as this. I probably have to wait and see.

RE: What is this weed?

Younger leaves are often variable. I also think its the Mock Orange coming back.

RE: What is this weed?

Thanks floral.

I rechecked the plant. And sure enough it seems the shoots are coming back.

It is sometimes confusing seeing so many variations from the same plant. For example, these leaves while serrated seem narrower than than the bigger shoot. But I assume in a couple of weeks, when the grow older, they'll assume the same form...

I'm afraid due to my ignorance, I thought these belonged to another plant and I deprived myself from a healthy plant...

RE: What is this weed?

I don't think the last picture is Mock Orange. It's possible but it looks like a seedling rather than a shoot. I'd keep a watching brief over it and see how it turns out.

RE: What is this weed?

Ok, thanks :-)
