I had to butcher it....what is IT?

We recently moved into our new home and found this plant looking like THIS.......

Looks like a Euryops. I would remove the other dead branches and let it come back from the green growth.

Thank you Gyr_Falcon! My husband thought it was funny to leave that part on the top.
I googled that plant and it looks like it's poisonous?? I am trying to figure out what all these plants are in our backyard ...my puppy loves to try and eat everything =(

Well, I don't know. I did a Google search and articles come up listing all parts as poisonous. But I searched the CA poisonous plants list, and it is listed under Non-toxic. The ASPCA's site did not list it under dogs [ http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants/e?field_toxicity_value[01]=01& ], but their list is not extensive.
