 o
misidentified primrose

I don't know much about primulas - probably because they always die on me within a year. Luckily, this one is blooming within a year of starting it from seed (in winter), so that at least I can see its flowering form. Unluckily, the plant appears to be a different species from what was listed on the seed packet. The latter said "Primula elatior", but I can find only references to yellow-colored flowers on that species, with a different flower shape too. Any hope of identifying what it is that I'm growing?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Might be a hybrid of it, structure is similar.

P eliator, Cowslip, does very occasionally naturally throw up red flowers in the wild. But it also hybridises with Primula veris so yours may be the result of crossing with a coloured primrose or a polyanthus. I suspect the latter explanation as the flowers are much wider open at the mouth than the species.
