| This sprawling plant was more than a foot across, with stems up to 0.200 inch wide and fleshy, smooth leaves. The larger leaves were about the size of the end joint of your middle finger. It was in a sunny ditch bordering a church, so gets frequent water. |

| Thanks carrieb. I went back this morning and found one specimen with flowers just starting to open. I also checked the Arkansas key. It looks like this used to be called Portulaca retusa, because of those retuse leaf tips. That species was later folded back into Portulaca oleracea. This is still a rare plant in this part of Arkansas, but spreading. I also appreciate the follow-up confirmation, zorba. |
