A cutting won't work. You need to get a division i.e. a portion of the plant with a bit of root attached. An watch out for the brambles in there with it.

Thanks everyone. I have now taken two pieces complete with root and fingers crossed!

You should have no problem. They're very accommodating. They also volunteer themselves by seed, once you've got a decent stand of them going.
