I bought this at a garage sale and asked the seller what it was. She just shrugged. I juts like the looks of it and was curious what it is.

One of the "Name That Plant" All-stars, pokeweed (Phytolacca americana). It is one of our most asked about plants.

A large and beautiful native plant - if in the right place.

Most talked about because it pops up everywhere! It's quite a stubborn weed once established, resisting good hard yanks to remove it from the garden. Birds love the seeds when they mature and insure the spread of this plant far and wide. Caution should be used if you have small children in the household as the berries are very colorful when ripe, and toxic.
