Hello,

This plant came up out of nowhere here in Richmond, VA. It's on the North side of the house that gets some sun. I identified that it is lobed with crenate (rounded teeth on the leaves), and I thought the leaf looked like a fig, but then maybe not. The leaves of varying sizes grow on woody stems alternatively pinnate according to the picture that I saw on the internet. Planning on cutting it out of the azalea bed, but still would like to know what it is.

Thanks for reading!

Couldn't get a more classic mulberry leaf shape than this! Common bird-planted trees.

White mulberry has got to be one of the most asked-about plants on the internet. There is much variation in leaf shape, I am sure this is the basis for a large part of the mystification.
