"Whirling Butterflies" is the absolute perfect name for this plant. From a distance the thin flower stalks fade into the background, and with the least breeze your eye is caught by a cloud of pale butterflies hovering over the lower foliage.

That said, there are other cultivar names and other colors (pinks of one shade or another, afaik).

Mine live just a few years, then die over the winter (perhaps that's symptomatic of this zone?). But they self-seed about enough to replace themselves.
