    I think it might be the prostrate Lespedeza. Do you see any tiny pink flowers ever?

    Common Lespedeza seems like the best fit. Happily, it is a legume. The chickens like it and now I learn it's feeding the turf. Nice. I also have the E. maculata all over my butterfly garden where is makes a decent ground cover in the unseen areas that keeps taller weeds from popping up where I can see them. Only trouble is that it doesn't really get started til July.
