Gum scented plant

This plant was passed down to me from my Great Grandmother. It is doing great in my daughters garden.
Its leaves smell of gum. It is slow spreading making a nice 2' clump of gray green upright leaves. It has mint like purple/blue blossoms in the fall. Any ideas? Thanks!

Spearmint or peppermint?

More like a spearmint smell but doesn't spearmint have regular fuzzy mint leaves?

Can you post a photo of the entire plant? Might get a definitive answer then. The leaves don't look quite like peppermint and stems aren't darker. Hmmm.

Costmary seems to be the going theory on the Herbs forum. I'm not familiar with costmary but it seems a reasonable guess.
