| Maybe it's Hydrangea paniculata. |

| That's what I thought from the other picture. It should have flowers by now, but perhaps it's in too much shade? |

| Most I've seen flowering are in full sun to almost full sun. |

| It gets a lot of sun, panuculata would make sense based on what grower said, I'm thinking it may be a soil issue. |
