A tree or large shrub? If you rip a leaf does it smell spicy? Certainly reminds me of spicebush, Lindera benzoin.

esh_ga, it's definitely a tree, and the leaves do not have a spicy smell. The first picture is horizontal when it should be vertical, if that led to any confusion.

Diospyros ?

sorta reminds me of Lindera, too.
I never found the leaves "spicy" smelling. my Lindera leaves were more "under-arm"- ish smelling

p.s. if it is Lindera, it is most likely male - my female has berries (still green) . I don't see any on your plant

Lindera can get pretty big for a shrub - over 10 feet in each direction. It is native to your area as well.

You guys are right, i think it's definitely a Lindera. I have never noticed any berries or flowers on it though, will it never produce anything?
