Hello,
I have this plant growing in my front garden. I almost cut it down 2 weeks ago, as I thought it was a weed! The strange thing, is that I had a Dahlia plant planted here last year and when this started growing, it grew right out of the middle of my dahlia plant. So, I assumed it was just growing back this year. After weeks and weeks of letting it grow, without any flowers, we decided that it was a weed, as we were getting dandelion looking yellow buds from it, and was going to cut it down. We got busy doing a few other things and never got around to it and a couple of days ago, I saw these big red buds opening out. I decided to wait to see what they were and this morning, these flowers were there.

Please help me if you know what these are....trying to figure out how it got there!!

You have a beautiful looking Hardy Hibiscus...possibly Lord Baltimore?
