Do you know who this is?

Hello everyone,

Here are a few pictures of this plant that keeps popping up in the same place every year, but I don't think it has ever done anything noteworthy (good or bad). I remember it as it's coming up and then forget to look back at it later in the season for some reason. Hoping you can help me figure out if it's something that should stay or go.

Thanks,

I think it's some type of Hibiscus and it appears there are flower buds there. Have you ever seen a flower?

It's a Hibiscus and it's getting ready to bloom.

Oh I hope so! I had planted a hibiscus in about that general location a couple of years ago but it kind of turned brown and dried up so I thought it was dead but I never dug it out. I wonder if it has managed to survive all this time after all. I recently put in a do-it-yourself drip irrigation system to help with watering so maybe it finally has enough water to try to grow and bloom. How exciting! I really had given up on it. Thank you so much. Will post a picture when the bud opens. Can't wait.

Thanks,
Amna
