ID this vine

This vine keeps popping up in my flowerbeds and by my trees I've been pretty steadfast at pulling it up when I find it, but it grows underground leaving me to think my chances of eliminating it are pretty slim.

I figure if I know what I'm dealing with I might have at least a little better luck.

Oh - looks like new leaves start out purple and then turn green as they mature.

roots at every node if you give it a chance, strong climber? looks like trumpet vine, which is strong, stubborn, vigorous, and pretty much immune to everything but digging up as much of it as you can, then flame-weeding everything that pops up for the next year or two.

Thanks for the ID, your description is spot on. I can pull a 2"-6" sprout out of my flowerbed one evening and find an identical one close by the next evening.

I think it looks like Ampelopsis arborea.

Here is a link that might be useful: Ampelopsis

I agree that it is more likely Ampelopsis.
