Velvet leaf-weed?

This fast-growing plant is at a nursery and they say its velvet leaf, a weed. Its about 20 feet tall, all new growth this year. Its obviously fast growing, has a 'trunk' from yearly pruning back to the base and no flowers that I've seen. Its actually attractive and occupies a lot of space quickly!
Not what I know/knew as Velvet weed.
