I'll tell you what you did right. You have a very good photo and with a hand in the photo it's easier to judge how big the leaves are.
Shrub or tree? Height? Width?
Fast growing or slow?
Any blooms? Any seed pods/fruit?
Do you see a lot of them in your area, or is this the only one?
Any smell? minty, lemony, stinky, etc.

I'd go with one of the shrubby Loniceras.
