Plant or weed?

Just bought a house. The flower beds are over grown. There are two large "bunches" of these in the front. At first I thought it was a plant but it is made up of individual stems. The leaves look like they have been eaten by some sort of insect(this is the only plant that looks like it has been eaten by an insect). Should I just pull these all out or is it an actual plant or flower?
Thank you!

Did they have yellow flowers? Are there any flowers left you can photograph? They could be Lysimachia punctata.

No flowerS. All green. That's not to say there weren't some earlier in the season before I inherited this mess! Thanks uk.

There clearly were flowers. You can see the calyces where they were and some bits of shrivelled blossom. I just wondered if there was any remnant of the colour left.
