 o
June bloomer, wildflower?

Found this growing behind a house I was renting in downstate NY (maybe zone 5-6) and am not entirely sure if it was planted or native. Have not seen it in my travels before (and it certainly caught my eye this time) and hoped someone may be familiar with it. Any ideas? Thanks!

It looks like a Speedwell. Probably a garden variety rather than a native? (Certainly the natives I've seen here and in Illinois aren't that bright a blue.)

Could be Veronica chamaedrys, Germander speedwell, if that occurs in your region.

Here is a link that might be useful: V chamaedrys

Very good!! I think you are right on with V. chamaedrys. Not a native, but I can certainly see why one would introduce it. The color is really spectacular. Thanks for your guidance!

It's a garden weed here. I imagine it arrived in N America unintentionally rather than by deliberate introduction.
