It doesn't smell like menthol to me; more like incense, specifically the kind the priest burns in church on holy days.
What do you think of P. neochilus for an id? Anybody grow that one?

Julie, I grow P. neochilus. It is not so soft & hairy as yours. Smell of the leaves when bruised is a stink, worse than incense, so not that one.
