ligularia dentata.

I have this growing wild in the pasture. I thought it was Golden Ragwort, Packera aurea/Senecio aureus.

The stems and buds are an amazing dark purple.

Looks like ligularia to me.

Sure looks like Packera aurea to me, too. But that species should have bloomed in March or April, if in zone 7.

It isn't Packera aurea. That species will have deeply divided leaves on the flowering stems and the basal leaves are not quite so round.

Mine blooms in March or April. Very young plants try to masquerade as Viola sororia, so I spose the basal leaves aren't as round as the pictured plant's -- though some are rounder than others.

According to BONAP, Ligularia dentata has naturalized in Maryland, and nowhere else in the U.S. And it's the only Ligularia which has naturalized in the U.S.

So does the OP report this, and if so, to whom?
