Photobucket

Background: We're in Cocoa Beach, FL, zone 9b/10, coastal. I have nothing else that resembles it nearby. I'll be happy to answer other questions about it to get an answer. It's growing in a pot that is serving as a nursery for a baby fishtail palm, but if it's something interesting I'll get it a nursery of its own.

Thank you in advance !

Looks a bit like my tamarind, but obviously there are a great many things that can look like that where you are!

Looks like some sort of Mimosa (not to be confused with acacia or albizia). There are at least three species native to Florida, as well as various others than could have been imported.

Here is a link that might be useful: Mimosa pudica?

It's leaves folded up after the heavy rain today (for lack of a better descriptor).

Does that help confirm Mimosa ?
