 o
what is this variegated leaf perennial?

I bought this at my garden club sale last year and it made it through the winter (zone 5) and has young plants. I didn't see it flower. Any idea what it is, and should I pull it out before it takes over the world?

Thanks.

It looks like Persicaria virginiana "Painter's Palette". I have it growing in my garden and have had no problems with it spreading.

That's it, thanks so much. I looked and looked on internet and books and couldn't find it. Question, do you cut back the flowers to prevent it from spreading too much?

Yes, that will prevent self seeding.

But that won't prevent it by spreading by roots.
